"the one before christmas"

Every year this happens.
I
guess
I’m used to
it by now. The
savory-ness of one of my
home cooked meal just can’t
compete with the sweet sounds of
alluring iPhones. Turkey & stuffing don’t
measure up to the decorated plastic fern with
packages of silver & gold underneath. But, think back
to the Norman Rockwell’s portraits, with tables dressed
up in vast arrays of fruits and veggies, potatoes and gravy,
casseroles and stuffing, and never forget the ever important
golden Turkey at the center of this masterpiece. If old Mr Rockwell were
alive now, what would he sketch? Families eating dinner out of Thermoses
while waiting in line outside the Glendale Best Buy for 50% off the new Panasonic
HD TV? Wouldn’t it be nice if we all had just one day where we didn’t leave the
dinner table and we just enjoyed family? No big screen TVs? No Black Friday?
No Grey Thursday?
No forgetting about me?
Is that too much to ask?
Ah... oh well.
Happy Thanksgiving.
